Announcer 1: And welcome to the Nintendo Wii invitational, part of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2010. Here we are on the eighteenth, Tiger is getting ready for an important birdie putt. If he sinks this putt he could lay claim to one of the greatest seasons of his career.

Announcer 2: Well it has been a remarkable season Jim. At the very least, there have been enough changes and tweaks to his game to make this season a stand-out one, if not his very best to date.

Announcer 1: That’s true Winston, and as Tiger sets up for this final putt, why don’t you tell us about some of the changes that have brought Tiger Woods to this point in this 2010 version of his PGA Tour. Specifically, how has touring on the Nintendo Wii changed his game for the better?

Announcer 2: Well Jim, I’d say the first thing we’d have to talk about is his new choice of club. The biggest difference between this year and last is the inclusion of the new MotionPlus club. This has given Tiger a great deal more precision and accuracy than in any previous season. I’ve had a chance to try it out for myself, Jim, and I must say it feels about as natural and intuitive as any club I’ve held. The level of precision you have for adding fade or draw by the gentlest of twists, the gentle touch you can put on your approach shots and putts, there’s just a lot more finesse to the new MotionPlus club, and it’s really what sets Tiger Woods’ tour on the Nintendo circuit apart from others. After trying it, I’d have a hard time playing with any other club.

Announcer 1: Well Winston, I’d say the new MotionPlus has really helped Tiger live up to his full potential, that’s for sure. But what about training? What has Tiger done to get him ready and to help him prepare for this very important putt he’s about to attempt here on the eighteenth?

Announcer 2: There’s plenty that’s he’s done this season to get ready from this moment. Like past seasons, he’s played the PGA Career Tour and of course the FedEx Cup. He’s also gone back and relived some of his most famous shots from past events. I think recreating these events and talking about what was going through his mind as he was taking these shots has really helped hone his skills. Again, I’ve had an opportunity to relive some of those moments with him and to try and duplicate his shots using the MotionPlus club, and I found it very challenging and satisfying to try and play like Tiger.

Announcer 1: Were you successful?

Announcer 2: Ha ha. No, not as successful as I would have liked, but I enjoyed myself. One of the biggest new things Tiger has added this year is his “Play the Pros” training. By joining the EA Online tour, Tiger can play against other pro players as they participate in real tournaments. He gets updated scores and weather conditions, plus a few wrinkles to make things more challenging and realistic such as the removal of his putting meter or the lack of any putt previews. “Play the Pros” is a great way for him to get a feel for what the other pros are doing. Of course he can also play in tournaments hosted by EA Online, and he can even spend some time on the links with friends. Of course it’s not just all work for Tiger. One needs to relax and have some fun in order to stay loose. So Tiger also has party games that refine his golf skills in a variety of ways, and one of the other new things he’s picked up this year is Frisbee golf.

Announcer 1: I’m sorry Winston, did I hear that correctly? Frisbee golf?

Announcer 2: Ha ha, yes Jim, you heard correctly. Frisbee golf. It’s really a lot of fun, especially when playing with friends, and again MotionPlus makes it feel natural. Just toss the Frisbee and enjoy a nice round of Frisbee golf; it really works surprisingly well.

Announcer 1: You know Winston, golf always gets me thinking about something important.

Announcer 2: Oh no. Not this again.

Announcer 1: No matter who you are or how you play, it’s not always easy to hit the mark in golf.

Announcer 2: Do really have to do this now, Jim? Do you? You do this every time.

Announcer 1: Well, I’m just pointing out that although in golf the better you are at it the better chance you have of getting that little ball in the hole, in life it doesn’t matter how good you are because we all miss the mark. Tiger Woods and I could both hit a drive towards the moon, and he’d come a lot closer than me but ultimately we’d both fall short. That’s exactly what the bible means in Romans 3:23 when it says that all have fallen short of the glory of God because of sin; or missing the mark or not making par when it comes to the holiness and goodness of God. We can’t do it on our own. Fortunately, we have help. Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose from the dead to make a way for us to hit the mark, not through our own efforts, but through his and his righteousness. It’s like letting Tiger Woods playing golf for you and then he gives you his score as your own.

Announcer 2: You know they aren’t going to broadcast any of this, right?

Announcer 1: I know, Winston, I know, but I still want people to know that God loves them so much that he did everything possible for them to help them hit the mark and to make par for the course; something we simply can’t do on our own.

Announcer 2: Are you done now?

Announcer 1: Yes, for now.

Announcer 2: Well one other thing we should finish before we watch this final putt is just how gorgeous things look out here.

Announcer 1: Yes Winston, this has certainly been one of the best looking seasons for Tiger Woods. The courses look gorgeous, and they are a lot of them. And also we’ve seen a lot more people in the gallery, which has added to the overall tournament “you are there in the PGA” feel of this stellar season.

Announcer 2: Yes Jim, and the golfer all look great too. Even the new comers who have lots of choices for unique looks look better than they have in past seasons…

Announcer 1: Sorry to interrupt Winston, Tiger’s stepping up to make his putt. He’s lining up the shot now. Here’s the putt…it’s rolling…and will this be the best season for Tiger Woods yet?…Yes! Yes it is!

Score based on Par:

Graphics: Birdie - One of the best looking versions of Tiger Woods on the Wii yet. Lush looking courses, solid looking characters (although the people in the gallery sometimes look weird), decent weather effects.

Sound: Par - All of the golf swings and hits sound spot on. The commentary (despite claims to the contrary) really isn’t all that different from last year, and the sounds of the gallery is decent, but often stops abruptly (which sounds odd).

Control: Eagle - Wii MotionPlus makes all the difference. Pick up the club and swing away. You can accurately add fade and draw, put some gentle touches on your putts and approach shots, and it even works well for Frisbee golf.

Gameplay: Eagle - Huge career mode, robust online features including the excellent “Play the Pros”, fun mini games, and Frisbee golf. The only major flaw is a lack of chat support for the online games.

Story: N/A

Content: Eagle - Golf is still a family friendly game (except for when dad hits a shot in the rough).

Final Score: Eagle - This is easily the best Tiger Woods game yet, and probably the best golf game on any system. It doesn’t look quite as sharp as its hi-def bretheren, but the new MotionPlus controls make it one of the most natural controlling and fun golf games out there.
